The African Underwriting Managers (AUM) is a company limited by shares, newly established in Mauritius.
AUM has been granted an insurance manager activity license by the Financial Service Commission (FSC) in November 2025.
AUM operates as an underwriting agency on behalf of reinsurance companies that have granted underwriting authority. In this capacity, the company can assess offers from insurance companies or reinsurance brokers, price, bind coverage, issue contract documents, collect premiums, handle and settle claims.
AUM started operations in November 2025 with a binding authority agreement granted by the African Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re), the leading pan-African reinsurance company, A rated both by Standard & Poors and AM Best. The binding authority agreement includes underwriting of both treaty and facultative risks across various lines of business in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
